Seat Time Labs is a sim racing channel and site for people who want the truth about the hardware before they spend money on it. No hype, no brand loyalty, no affiliate-driven "everything is amazing." Just clear, technical explanations of how this gear actually works and what it's like to use.

What we care about

The sim racing hobby is full of confident marketing and confusing numbers. A wheel base is sold on "Nm" as if strength were the whole story — it isn't. Prices swing hundreds of dollars in a single season. Half the advice online is really just someone defending the brand they already bought.

Our job is to cut through that. We break down the fundamentals — force feedback, torque versus detail, ecosystems and quick-releases — and we compare products by what you actually need, not by which one has the biggest headline number. When something we otherwise like has a real weakness, we say so. That honesty is the entire point.

How we research — and where the hands-on comes from

We want to be straight with you about our method, because it's the thing that makes the content trustworthy:

• Official specifications. Torque, platform licensing, quick-release standards and pricing come from the manufacturers' own product pages, and we date every figure — sim racing prices change constantly.
• Published reviews and the community. We read widely: written reviews, long-term owner threads, and the recurring complaints and praise that only show up after months of use.
• Hands-on impressions from racers we know. We don't claim to personally own every product we discuss. Where you see first-hand feel — "the wheel buzzes just before the fronts wash out," "the load-cell brake is the upgrade you notice first" — those impressions come from friends and contacts in the sim racing community who own the gear and run it week in, week out. We synthesise their experience with the specs and the wider reviews, and we're clear when a claim is an impression rather than a lab measurement.

What we don't do is invent experience we don't have or dress up a spec sheet as a long-term test. If we haven't been able to verify something, we tell you.

Objectivity, on purpose

You'll notice our early guides don't push any brand at all — they're about the technology itself. When we do compare brands, we put them on equal footing and judge them by use case: which console you're on, whether you want detail or value, and how far you plan to upgrade. If we eventually recommend a specific product, it's because it genuinely fits a need — and any affiliate relationship will be disclosed plainly, right next to the link.
